To be honest I have no idea if this is the right forum to discuss this. I have been given some research to do.
In the job that I currently do it is a job requirement to handle major IT incidents for our clients.
When a major issue happens I have to inform all of the IT helpdesk of the issue, as you know if I send a mail it may sit in an inbox for ages before someone becomes aware of the issue. I would like to either devise or if someone has a system in place already, look for a system that works like a one way IM system. I for example would have an admin control panel, which I can send pop-up messages to the various helpdesks to advise them of issues. This way it will pop up on the screen and they can extract the relevant info. I have tried using Net Send, this was unsuitable as if an agent was in the middle of typing it would clear it from the screen, thus missing the message. I have also tried using a chat room/ whiteboard, this was unsuitable as all the agents chatted on it, and if a major incident did happen and they didn't have the board open they didn't get the info.
We are running on a corporate NT O/s. Any ideas were I can find such software or even how to build such software please let me know. You can just mail me on the registered address.
